John began playing the guitar at age six, and the five string banjo at age ten. He was mostly self-taught in the early years. At that point, his musical interests were predominantly folk and bluegrass.
He grew up in Southern California, in the Los Angeles area - it was inevitable that his tastes would turn to rock and roll. At age 13, John began taking guitar lessons at a local music store. He studied with various teachers until he was 17.
After high school, John studied music theory and the history of music at El Camino College, and then at Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT), where he graduated in 1981.
John currently plays with the local folk/bluegrass band Ophir Creek.
Tucker started playing guitar at age 14 and taking lessons at music village. He has played mostly in jazz ensembles and big bands, including presently being in the Weber State University Jazz Band. His main musical interests include jazz and folk guitar. Tucker loves sharing music with others, and wants to create a passion for music and musical expression similar to his own in students.
Phoenix's passion for guitar started when he was 12, he took guitar classes in school and took lessons at Music Village. He also played guitar for the Fremont Jazz Band and has performed with a few bands at Fremont.
His musical journey started when he was young, growing up listening to bands such as the Grateful Dead, Ween, and The Allman Brothers. As he got older his music taste expanded and now loves all genres of music, from metal to folk, jazz to indie, and rock to hip hop.
Phoenix wants to impact his students lives with music and guitar in hope it will change their lives like it changed his.
She started her musical journey 15 years ago starting with piano lessons. Later on she found an additional passion for singing. After high school she attended Snow College for three years majoring in Commercial Music. She has had that amazing opportunity within her musical adventure to perform with collegiate choirs, rock and pop ensembles, accompany different musical artists, and perform in multiple theatre productions.
Silvi strives to help her students gain technical skills, find confidence within their own unique voices, and help students to connect and captivate their audience. She specializes in teaching Rock/Pop stylings, Musical Theatre, Mix/Belt, and Performance Training.
When she isn't in her musical world, she enjoys photography, tending to her plants and animals, and spending time in the great outdoors. She is so excited to be a part of the Music Village team!
Laura began playing the piano at age six, the violin at age eight, and the viola at age fourteen. SHe has played with a variety of orchestras and small groups. One of her top favorite orchestras was the United States Youth Orchestra. It was a large orchestra composed of students from all acorss the USA, who came together and toured Europe for three weeks. Over the years, she studied with various teachers.
After high school, Laura began to teach private lessons in her home while her children were little. Once her children were in school, she joined a community orchestra. On the piano she has accompanied many choirs and solo performers.
By day, Laura is a Special Education teacher. She plays the organ and piano for her church and performs with a string quartet.
