John Sargent

Photo of John SargentJohn began playing the guitar at age six, and the five string banjo at age ten. He was mostly self-taught in the early years. At that point, his musical interests were predominantly folk and bluegrass.

He grew up in Southern California, in the Los Angeles area - it was inevitable that his tastes would turn to rock and roll. At age 13, John began taking guitar lessons at a local music store. He studied with various teachers until he was 17.

After high school, John studied music theory and the history of music at El Camino College, and then at Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT), where he graduated in 1981.

John currently plays with the local folk/bluegrass band Ophir Creek.

Caleb Roundy

Caleb Roundy Guitar TeacherCaleb has lived and breathed music from a young age. After being involved with worship music at the church his parents went to, Caleb felt excited about his talents and his desire to sing and play the piano.

As a teenager, he took private piano lessons and sang in competitive choirs, but also developed a passion for rock music and contemporary songwriting. He began to teach himself guitar and attended dozens of local concerts before going out on his own, writing music and playing gigs in several bands. Since then, Caleb has fully realized his ability to teach music, having had over 60 students over the past 4 years, while also playing and touring in the Utah indie rock/new wave band Del Perro.

Caleb's goal is to show that you don't need college experience or expensive lessons to fulfill your potential as a musician! Music lessons should be accessible, affordable, and fun for everyone, even those who struggle to learn, due to physical or social disabilities.

Zjanelle Tafoya

Zjanelle Tafoya - Violin TeacherMusic has been a central part of Zjanelle's life as long as she can remember. The connection deepened when she realized how healing, grounding, and inclusive it can feel - not just as something to listen to, but as something to live through.

She is classically trained in violin and has been playing for over a decade. Over time, her curiosity led to expanding into piano, bass, guitar, drums, cello, and other instruments through both self-teaching and hands on exploration. In early adulthood, she performed as lead singer and violinist for a rock band where she also gained songwriting, performance, and music composition experience.

Today, music continues to be one of the most important parts of Zjanelle's life. It is not just a skill or a hobby, but something essential that she couldn't imagine living without. Because of that, teaching is a natural extension of who she is.

Zjanelle's goal as an instructor is to spark that same sense of connection and excitement in others. She wants students to not only learn how to play, but to understand what music can do for them as a tool for healing, connection, and expression for anything they feel or imagine. She believes that every person has a musical voice and is passionate about helping students discover and build confidence in theirs.
