As one of the only mainstream acoustic guitar builders using a Spanish Heel or Integral Neck Construction, Cole Clark guitars have a tonal character unlike anything else we've heard. On other guitars, the body is made, then the neck is attached, usually with a bolt or dove tail joint. With a Spanish Heel or Integral Neck Construction, the neck is glued to the face, along with the back and sides so the neck is one piece all the way to the sound hole. This style of construction is essential for their advanced pickup technology and gives their guitars such a unique character. They also employ a carved top and back, and then use a ridge system to join the sides to the top and back instead of kerfing. And now they have found a way to make their guitars more accessible to more people! By partnering with an offshore assembly partner, Cole Clark has brought costs down by doing 60% of the work in their Melbourne factory with all timber milling and setup happening in their factory while the assembly stage takes place at their partner facility in China
Their pickup system has been updated for the Studio AN series to feature a strip piezo element for a more simplified construction while still providing a great sound.
Cole Clark guitars are made with all solid timber using mostly native Australian tone woods that are largely sustainable.
