MXR DD25V3 Dookie Drive Version 3 Unicorn Pedal

For anyone who has heard Billie Joe Armstrong of the band Green Day, they know that the dirty and punchy tone of their groundbreaking album Dookie also has some incredible articulation that expresses the musicality of his fast, melodic riffs. The way he accomplished this was by running his signal through a chain of modified amps; one with scooped with loads of gain, the other with a defined midrange. When everyone sat down to mix the album, engineers blended the two signals together and changed the ratios to get the vibe they wanted for each track.

With the 25th anniversary of Dookie, MXR has created the Dookie Drive. This single pedal captures the sound of both Armstrong's amps so that you can dial in your own variations of the ever famous and sought after Dookie sound. By literally borrowing Armstrong's amps, the MXR team analyzed all the qualities that went into making the incredible tone. After hours of analysis and A/B testing, MXR's engineers rebuild the amps from scratch, but in pedal form, and fit it all into this single housing. The High and Clean Gain sections have all their own controls, while the Blend control allows you to mix the two tones together, as Green Day did in the studio. Want a little extra midrange scoop to the overall output? Go ahead and push the scoop switch, we dare ya!

With all this talk of Billie Joe Armstrong and Green Day, you may get the impression that it is just for Green Day fans, but this completely unique pedal gives the player a full harmonic range of overdriven tones for a playing experience that is full of depth and dimension, making it an invaluable addition to any pedal board.

To celebrate the launch of Green Day's eclectic thirteenth studio album "Father of All...", this special limited edition version of the pedal features the album cover's rainbow-upchucking unicorn over a brushed aluminum housing. In the words of Billie Joe: "Nothing says f*** you like a unicorn."
