Breedlove makes some of the most incredible guitars on the market today, but their 2025 limited run Oregon Series may be some of their best yet.
Every so often a unique log is uncovered with truly unique and beautiful grain that could be considered legendary. Previous such examples would be "The Tree" mahogany or "Lucky Strike" redwood. Recently, one of Breedlove's trusted partners and wood specialist, Cyril Jacobs, traveled to Brookings, Oregon to help a local property owner selectively remove trees from their property in order to create a firebreak to help protect their property from wildfires ravaging the area. He found two Myrtlewood trees that he immediately recognized as remarkable due to their size growth patterns. The trees were removed, aiding the property owner, and he contacted Breedlove to let them know of his exciting find. These trees bore such unique and breathtaking grain structure that Breedlove acquired the entirety of both logs and thus their 2025 limited run Oregon models were born.
This stunning Oregon Concerto CE Special Edition features myrtlewood from the "Rain" log, with grain that is reminiscent of heavy rainfall through the forest canopy (or if you were to ask our owner, he would say it looks like Hungarian Partridge feathers, but he is addicted to tying flies for fishing so everything ties back to that for him). The "Rain" log was over 6 feet in diameter, allowing for Breedlove to create guitars in their largest, Concerto, body for a powerful yet dynamic tone. Only 20 Concerto instruments were made from the "Rain" log and we were able to get number 5. Every instrument is unique due to the large variation in grain throughout the log.
Other appointments on this instrument were kept simple and subtle, such as the tortoise binding, black/koa/black purfling, and tortoise with black/koa/black rosette. But our favorite appointment is the mosaic pins fretboard inlay featuring a mountainscape mosaic at the 12th fret.
This guitar is truly a showcase piece with its stunning grain, but also a true tonal giant!
