2026 is a year of growth and expansion here at Music Village, and part of that growth is adding new acoustic guitar lines, and we could not be more excited to announce that we have officially partnered with Taylor Guitars to become their newest dealer!
Taylor is known for their incredible playability, especially the nice feel of their neck, as well as their wide variety of tonewoods used to create incredible sounding instruments. As a leader in innovation in the industry, Taylor is always working to see how they can improve their processes, their product, and their environmental impact. They were the early pioneer of CNC usage in the acoustic guitar building market which allowed for more precise builds and have factories in El Cajon, California and Tecate, Mexico. In addition to developing new body shapes like their signature Grand Auditorium, under the direction of Andy Powers, Taylor developed their V-Class bracing which fundamentally changes the way the soundboard vibrates compared to traditional X-Bracing, resulting in less compromise between volume and sustain of the tone of the guitar.
Bob Taylor, one of the owners and founders as well as the company's namesake, has a strong belief in responsible stewardship of natural resources to safeguard those resources for the future. In short, he is dedicated to ensuring that in 50+ years, the world has the resources to live and Taylor can still be building their incredible guitars out of these resources. This conviction has lead to Taylor becoming a co-owner of an ebony mill in Cameroon in 2011. Cameroon is the last place where ebony can be legally harvested and upon observing the harvesting and milling process, Bob Taylor noticed that the processes at the time resulted in a lot of waste of ebony. Ebony was known for it's rich, pure black color, but only 1 in 10 ebony trees possessed the all black wood that builders were seeking, and harvesters did not know which trees had that look vs which trees featured wood with variegated light and dark streaks (which was perfectly usable, just not the aesthetic preference of the time), this resulted in a lot of wasted ebony trees. So Taylor determined that they would do their part to reduce waste and use the variegated ebony and also encourage other builders to do so, now every time you see something featuring the beautiful variegated ebony you can know that it has contributed to a more eco-conscious build philosophy. Taylor is also involved in sustainability initiatives in Hawaii with regenerating Koa forests as well as urban sustainability initiatives by finding alternative tonewoods that can be sourced from urban areas (often trees that would be viewed as a nuisance species otherwise), this allows them to create unique tonewood pairings but also takes the stress off of other woods that have been overharvested historically and can allow space for the population to regenerate.
We are so excited to be offering Taylor guitars to our customers!
