Back in August of 2017, members of our staff got to tour the Two Old Hippies factory in Bend, Oregon. As part of the tour, they got to access the wood vault that houses all of the wood used to craft the Breedlove, Bedell, and Weber instruments, including the stock of high grade top wood sets and back wood sets. While browsing through the stacks of wood sets, our staff made some selections for top and back/side pairings for some custom built instruments for the Breedlove luthiers to work their magic on to create stunning guitars.
After patiently waiting to see the product of our selections, we are happy to see the second of three instruments hand spec'd by our staff come to life with this incredible Concerto body acoustic guitar with Masterclass grade Sitka Spruce top and Exotic grade (the highest grade of wood available) Myrtlewood back and sides.
Breedlove introduced their Concerto body at NAMM 2017, having spent much time developing the idea of the perfect hybrid between the traditional, robust dreadnought shape and the narrower concert body. The Concerto body is a truly innovative design, harnessing the best parts of both Concert and Dreadnought bodies. You will still get the great bass response and fullness of tone you would expect from a Dreadnought body while still pulling out excellent dynamics that Concert body guitars are so well known for. We have been so impressed with this new body shape that when we went to design our custom guitars we knew we wanted to design a Concerto body that would be great for both fingerstyle players and singer-songwriter players using a playing style focused on heavy strumming. But we also wanted to add a cutaway to the body, which was not something that we had seen on a Concerto body before. So we just had to ask one of the luthiers at Breedlove if they would build a Concerto body with a cutaway for us, and luckily for us they already had that in development so they would definitely be able to build one for us! So we are super excited to have one of the very first Concerto body guitars with a cutaway ever built!
We wanted to keep the appointments on this guitar quite simple and allow the beautiful figured grain of the Myrtlewood and outstanding tone to speak for itself, so we opted for black binding with herringbone purfling and a simple abalone rosette. Although one appointment we made to really make this guitar stand out is the 'Linear Fusion' neck inlay with a turquoise fill at the 12th fret. The turquoise adds a pop of color and really draws the eye in without being overwhelming.
This guitar is already getting rave reviews from customers who have seen and heard it, one customer who is an avid collector of high end guitars proclaimed that this instrument is the best sounding guitar he had ever heard. And we can certainly agree on that point, this guitar sounds absolutely INCREDIBLE!
So if you are looking for an absolutely amazing sounding guitar with unique characteristics that will really make it stand out from the crowd, look no further than this guitar right here!
