Last year Breedlove Guitars launched an awesome new program which allows people to design their own Masterclass guitar by picking their favorite tonewood combination, inlay design, binding package, etc from options provided. This custom build option allows a customer to participate in choosing from a large array of options to create a truly unique instrument at a lower overall cost compared to a Custom Shop build with unlimited choices. We are very excited to be a participating dealer in the Masterclass Build to Order program!
Last August, while we were visiting the Breedlove Guitar factory in Bend, Oregon we decided to see for ourselves just how the process worked and design our own Masterclass Built to Order guitar to offer to our customers! Our in house luthier, Justin was in put in charge of the design of this instrument and it turned out absolutely phenomenally! We are so excited to share it with you!
Justin found an absolutely incredible piece of Bearclaw Sitka Spruce for the top and a mindblowing piece of figured Koa for the back of this Masterclass Concert! He chose to have the top be finished in a Whiskey Burst finish which really makes the Bearclaw characteristics stand out and also nicely complements the color of the Koa on the back and sides! He also picked a Maple neck with a semi-gloss finish which really just feels incredible when you are playing it! The semi-gloss finish is so smooth and easy to move across when travelling up and down the neck!
He kept all other appointments on this instrument pretty simple, opting for a simple green abalone rosette and offset dot fretboard inlay. Really allowing the tonewoods to speak for themselves. He did select Rosewood binding which provides a nice contrasting look to the Bearclaw Spruce and the Koa on the body.
